Fishing Tackle
There are many different types of tackle for many different techniques. The main two styles of fishing are fly fishing and coarse fishing. Fly fisihng is with a rod and a reel but on the line you have something called a fly which attracts certain fish. Coarse fishing is usually and rod and a reel and on the line you can have a huge vary of different tackle. The most popular techniques in coarse fishig is Float, Ledger, Feeder and spinning (including lures and plugs). The most popular tackle that you usually use in coarse fishing is hooks (barbed and barbless) range in a size from 1-20, but in coarse fishing the range is usually 4/6-20 simply because lower than 4 will be way too big (the lower the size the bigger the hook). The next most popular are lead shots used as weights to weigh down the line and to keep the float in balance. These Metal shots range in size also ,but they are sized with letters for example, Bigger shots are called SSG and normal size are BB. For a more detailed description on each technique see below.
Float fishing tackle
The tackle begginers need to float fish is, shots, floats, hooks. For more advanced fishermen you will need, float stops, hook to nylon, anchor tubing and swivels.
What does this do, and how do you set it up? Well basically you attach your reel and rod and feed the line up through the rod eyes the give your self 4 ft of line then slide the float on and keep it in place with some shots. Then tie on your hook with which ever knot you decide to do. Attach the right amount of shots, by reading the side of the float to see how much weight you need. Test in the water to see if float stands up, if the float doesn't stand up add weight if it stands up but sinks a little take off weight. Add on the bait and then you are ready to float fish.
For more advanced fishermen simply add on the more advanced tackle depending on what you have.
