There are many different kinds of rods!

Carp Rods, Match Rods, Sea Fishing Rods, Coarse Fishing Rods, Fly Fishing Rods, Spinning Rods and Pole Fishing Rods. Different rods have different strenghts and lengths and of course price. They are all made by different companys aswell. Also the material of rods are different you can get Fibreglass, Carbon and Graphite. For begginers Fibreglass rods are reccomended because the carbon rods get chipped and broken if you bash them around too much. Also if the rod is too long it can be a difficulty for begginers to cast.

There are also different types of reels. They are made by different companies also they are made differently, you can get different fishing types of reels. Sea Fishing Reel and Coarse Fishing Reel. They are designed totally different but work in the same way.

To tell how good a reel is you have to know how many ball bearings it is. The more ball bearings the better the less the worse. Most probably the less ball bearings the cheaper aswell.
